Company Update: Simplifying

Earlier this year, we announced that The License Lab has partnered with ELIAS Music, a Universal Publishing Production Music company, to exclusively represent our catalog of production music in the United States & Canada. In addition, our music also became available in most of the largest markets around the globe through Universal Production Music.

To be clear, we are still us, and we’re still fiercely independent. Every part of who we are remains true. Coordinating with these world-class sales and distribution teams means we can amplify our purpose and passion, allowing us to focus on producing more of that handcrafted sonic inspiration that you've come to expect from The License Lab.

While 2020 was obviously no walk in the park for so many in this industry, 2021 continues to be full of change for our company. We are encouraged by these new relationships and truly feel we’re putting out some of the best music we’ve ever made in our 10 years in business.

Directly relating to our mission to focus on doing what we do best, the music, we have a few more changes to share.

UPDATES-wide_1200x675.jpg

On October 1, 2021 our music will no longer be available to stream, search, or download on licenselab.com. Our website will instead serve as a hub of information for all things The License Lab. It will provide links to easily locate, listen, and license our music directly on your specific territory’s website. We’ve taken a lot of pride in developing our site over the last 10 years, and have always received such wonderful feedback from you, our friends and clients, so this was by no means an easy decision. But we are confident that you’ll still be able to find our music when you need it, utilizing features we’ve been dreaming about (and you’ve been asking about) for years.

Which leads us to an update to our sub publisher network outside of North America. In 2022, our 10 labels of production music will be available exclusively through Universal Production Music’s global system. This is yet another change in our distribution model that means more of our creative energy is available for new music. On the forthcoming version of our site, the list of territories and their corresponding websites will be updated and ready for you to find where to license our music around the world.

We are confident that you’ll still be able to find our music when you need it, utilizing features we’ve been dreaming about (and you’ve been asking about) for years.

Our socials, newsletter, and Lab Notes channel will also continue providing a steady stream of engaging stories, details of all our new releases, and so much more. If you haven’t yet, sign up for our completely non-spammy newsletter to ensure you stay up to date with everything going on (don’t leave it up to the algorithms).

Thank you all for your continued support, flexibility, and understanding. We look forward to this next chapter, providing more of what you love, and supporting your stories with our music.
