Indie Rock

Confident and carefree indie riff rock yearning for the freedom of the open road, traveling across the country, and an escape from the establishment (HK-23)

What does indie rock mean to you? It can be a lot of things to a lot of people, but indie rock almost always has a heavy dose of youthful rebellion and heart-on-your-sleeve emotion. It’s that combination that keeps us on our toes with a constant stream of new acts, sub-genres, and sounds.

With our ears to the underground and an eye on the edit suite, we’ve assembled an album of some current sounds of Indie Rock (HK-23) in a promo-friendly package without sacrificing the spirit of the genre. Composed by Alec Shaw and featuring the same crew that brought the music of Under the Radar v3 to life (Naked Giants bassist Gianni Aiello and drummer Henry LaVallee with Shaw on guitar), there is no shortage of confidence and passion in these tracks.

“We Want It Now” showcases hallmarks of indie rock, perfectly pairing the strength and anticipation of rebellion with mysterious emotions. The steady bass line carries the track between dynamic ranges and locks in with the drums while leaving space for distorted guitar chords. Swinging with swagger, “Get That Big Haul” has a flair for the extreme. It’s that brashness that is made for the independent spirit and challenging the status quo.

This album hits many spots on the emotional spectrum, allowing the tracks on Indie Rock to fit in a variety of containers including monster truck rallies and motor racing, as well as teen dramas and road movies. It’s a wide net, but don’t be afraid to push the boundaries with a little rebellion.
